Commercial Litigation

Our firm has in-depth commercial experience, not simply in terms of legal expertise but in the technical knowledge and experience required to find the commercial route to a client’s objectives.  We act for a wide range of clients, from major corporations to small family businesses, both in the Maldives and overseas. They are in areas as diverse as banking and insurance, property development and investments, travel and leisure, tourism, civil airlines, manufacturing and the professions.

The firm represents clients in commercial litigation in a wide spectrum of business disputes both at the Civil Court, the High Court and the Supreme Court of Maldives. The firm does representation in the courts in cases involving contractual disputes of various types, corporate disputes, banking, foreclosure and debt recovery, maritime disputes, etc.

Commercial Transactions

The firm works in various commercial transactions on behalf of their clients including, foreign investments, drafting various types of agreements, corporate matters, company secretarial functions, dispute resolution and many more.   

Corporate Law

The firm advises clients on the formation of companies, partnerships and other business relationships, both locally and abroad. The firm does drafting of shareholders agreements, company incorporation documents; Articles and Memorandum of Associations, Board Resolutions, and gives advice on company meetings such as board meetings, extraordinary meetings and Annual General Meetings.

Employment & Labor

The firm advice clients on the current Employment Law of the Maldives and draft employment contracts and documentations regarding employees, for executives, skilled and semi-skilled employees.

Tourism and Leisure Industry

The firm offer full range of legal services to clients in the hospitality industry, particularly tourist resorts, hotels, restaurants, diving schools and water sports centers. The firm advice on resort lease agreements, sub-lease agreements, mortgage agreements, environmental laws, leasing, employment and financial issues.

Banking

With the experience of advising the largest commercial bank in the Maldives for more than five years, both partners of this law firm are well versed in financial laws, particularly commercial banking and mortgage laws.

Maritime

Maritime legal advice rendered from the law firm includes disputes resulting from collusion at sea, charterparty disputes, and other matters involving marine transportation and trade.

The firm advice clients on aviation law in issues that involve airlines, airports, passenger’s rights, ground handling agents, forwarding agents, shippers and airline crew.

We manage construction contract documentation and conduct contract negotiations between architects, contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers. The Law Firm represents owners, developers and contractors in all phases of development of hotels and residential and commercial premises.

Bankruptcy and Liquidation
